How to Recover Data from Formatted Mac Hard Drive

  • Recovering data from a formatted hard drive can be a breakneck task. It is always advised to take a backup before performing a format on your hard drive.
  • However, you can recover the data from a formatted hard drive.
  • It is possible in two ways for Mac.
  • Time machine backup
  • Third-party applications

Time machine backup

  • The time machine backup is an inbuilt application that comes with the Mac OS.
  • However, the time machine option is only applicable if you had already taken a back up of your Mac hard drive before performing a format.
  • If you have done so, you can connect an external hard drive to your Mac.
  • After the format, the Mac restarts. The restart will prompt you to perform a back up with the time machine.
  • The time machine is out of the question if you have not taken a backup beforehand.
