On this web page, we will help you recover partitions and data on Linux. First, install a data recovery software on your Linux. In the section below, we have used TestDisk utility.
Download and install the TestDisk software that is compatible with your Linux OS version. Now, verify its version by running the command mentioned below in the Terminal window.
# testdisk --version
Now, create a TestDisk Data log file using the command #testdisk.
Use the arrow keys to choose an option in the Terminal window.
Select the Create option and wait for some time help to recover partitions and data on Linux.
Once the TestDisk Data Log file has been created, a list of disks attached to your Linux system will be displayed on the screen.
Select the disk(s) where your files and partitions are stored.
Choose the Proceed option.
Tap the Enter button.
Now, you have to select the partition table type. For beginners, selecting it might be quite difficult. By default, Linux will automatically select the best partition table type. If you have some knowledge about the Linux’s Partition table type, then you can select any one of your desire.
When prompted, select the deleted file source drive partition from the list. Tap Enter.
Now, your Linux system’s directories for all partitions will be displayed on the screen.
Select the directory in which the deleted files were stored.
Now, you can see the deleted files highlighted in red.
Select the files you want to restore or recover partitions and data on Linux.
Press the c button on your system’s keyboard to copy the files you wish to restore.
Now, the Testdisk utility will display a list of locations.
Select the location by using the arrow buttons and press the C button.
