  • If you have forgotten to save a file, open your Excel sheet, click on the File menu, and select Open.

  • Launch Microsoft Excel and open a New sheet.
  • From the File menu, select Options. In the Excel Options window, click on the Save tab.
  • Set Save AutoRecover information every 1 minute.
  • Check the ‘Keep the last autosaved version if I close without saving’ box
  • Note the auto recover file location or change the location if needed and click OK.
  • You can now recover the files from the location where it is auto recovered. Choose your file and open it.
  • The recovery file will be in the Read-only mode. Go to the File menu --> click Save and add your desired location to save the recovered file.

  • Select Browse and a window for Save as will be displayed on the screen.
  • Click on Tools --> General options and then select “Always create backup” on the prompted window.
