First, download a standard data recovery software on your computer.
If you have overwritten the files on your main hard drive, download a data recovery software on an external drive.
Connect it to the computer and launch the software.

In the data recovery window, choose the hard drive from which you wish to recover the overwritten files.
Click the Scan button to search for the overwritten files on your hard drive.
It may take some time to complete the scan based on the size of the data to be recovered.
After completing the scan, choose the file you wish to recover and click the Recover button.
Select a drive location for saving the recovered file and click Exit to close the window.
Next, verify whether the overwritten files are recovered and saved in the selected location.
Follow these steps to recover the overwritten files using System Restore:
On your Windows, click the Start menu and open the Windows Control Panel.
In the Control Panel window, click the System and Security tab followed by System.
Click the System Protection option and select the System Restore button.
Make sure you have already created a system restore point before using the System Restore utility.
In the System Restore window, choose the restore point and click the Next button to start restoring your Windows.
