The desktop version of QuickBooks offers a feature named QuickBooks Auto Data Recovery (ADR). You can use this feature to restore lost or corrupted data. The ADR feature is only available with Enterprise Solutions for Windows, QuickBooks Pro, and Premier.
Here are the quick steps to recover or restore the lost or corrupted data using the QuickBooks Auto Data Recovery (QuickBooks ADR) application.
First, create a new folder and name it QBTest on your computer Desktop.
Now, open the company file folder on your computer.
On the Company File folder, search for the file extension .tlg and select it.
If you are unable to find the .tlg file, then follow the instructions given below.
On your computer, open the File Explorer and window.
Select Organize > Folder and search options or View > File name extension.
Choose the Hide extensions for known file types option.
Click the Apply button followed by OK.
Now, copy the file with the extension .tlg and paste it in the QBTest folder.
Search for the ADR file (with extension .adr) in the same location and copy it.
Paste the copied .QBW.adr file in the QBTest folder.
Now, open the QBTest folder on your computer.
Select and right-click on the .QBW.adr file.
Choose the Rename option.
Remove the .adr characters at the end of the ADF filename and save it.
Now, the file name should be like, My Company Name.QBW.
Launch the QuickBooks application on your computer.
On the QBTest folder, open the company file.
Verify all the transactions using your account registry.
To check the data integrity of the recovered files, click File > Utilities < Verify Data.
Now, all the lost data are recovered successfully using the Quickbooks Data File Recovery tool.
