How to Use R Studio Data Recovery

  • The R-Studio Data Recovery tool is used to recover data which is damaged beyond readability. It will first identify and analyze the content of the damaged disk.
  • You need to do the following steps to recover a damaged or formatted data using the R-Studio Data Recovery tool.
  • Launch the R-Studio Data Recovery tool and find the damaged disk. The disk will have an invalid file system.
  • Right-click the damaged disk on the main screen of the recovery tool and then select the Scan option from the shortcut menu to open the Scan dialog box.
  • The Scan dialog box contains four major sections like Scan Area, File System, Save to File, and Scan View.
  • If you want to scan the entire disk, select the Entire disk from the Scan Area section.
  • To use the File System option for the recovery, you need to mention the file system. If you do not know the file system, specify the default file system. The default file system for Windows is NTFS and for MAC is HFS/APFS.
  • Click the Change button and mention the file system. If you know the file type, you can select the Known File Types button to locate the specific file system in your disk.
  • After identifying the file system of the disk, click the file type which you want to search and then select the OK button. If you are not sure about the file type, proceed with the next option.
  • For the Save to File option, mention the location where the information about scan file has to be saved. In rare cases, the scanning process may be interrupted due to some reasons like the complexity of the file/folder, or when the file is too large to scan.
  • At that time, you need to start the scan from the beginning. In such a case, you need to select the location to save the scanned information, and it will automatically re-scan the damaged file in your disk.
  • To make use of the Scan to View option, select the type of scan you want to perform. You are recommended to use the default scanning option.
  • After selecting a suitable scanning method, click the Scan button to start performing the scanning. Wait until the scanning completes.
  • The scan may take a few minutes if you are using a USB 2.0 device. Now, the window will display a file partition in different colors once you complete the scanning.
  • You need to select the partition which corresponds to the logical disk where the damaged data resides. You are recommended to choose the Recognized 1 from the list which is green in color.
  • Double-click the selected partition to view the files and folder in the partition.
  • Click the checkbox to select the file or folder which you want to recover from the list.
  • You can also preview the file. Click the Recover Marked button to open the Recover dialog box. Open the Output folder tab and choose the destination path where you want to save the recovered file.
  • Make sure to choose the path that is different from the disc in which the data was damaged. Click OK to start recovering the damaged data.
