How to recover lost data

  • Note that you cannot recover the lost data from a corrupted drive or system.
  • To restore data from the backup on Windows 10, proceed with the following instructions below.
  • Launch the Control Panel window on your Windows system.
  • Select the Backup and Restore option from the System and Maintenance tab.
  • Click the Restore my Files option and proceed with the steps displayed on the screen to restore the lost file. Proceed with the following steps to recover deleted or lost data using the Stellar Data Recovery software.
  • First, install the Stellar Data Recovery Professional software on your system.
  • Choose the type of document to be recovered and click the Next option.
  • Choose the location from the Select location screen where the file is lost or deleted. Turn on the Deep Scan toggle switch and click the Scan option after specifying the location from which your files were lost.
  • If you have enabled the Preview option, the software will list the scanned data that can be previewed. Close the scanning completed window.
  • Select the files to be recovered and click the Recover button.
  • Set the destination folder to save the recovered files, and click Start Saving.
  • To prevent future data loss, create a backup. Use cloud storage or local drive to set up a backup. Also, enable File History to prevent permanent data loss.

How to recover lost data from a folder

  • Proceed with the following steps to recover data from a folder using the Folder Recovery software.
  • Download and install the EaseUS folder recovery software. Launch the software once the installation is complete.
  • If the lost data is saved in an external storage device, connect the device to your computer.
  • Choose the path or location where you have lost the data by selecting the Specify a location option.
  • To scan the lost folder, press the Scan option.
  • Check and locate the deleted or lost folder. You may use the Search feature to find the deleted folder.
  • Select the lost folder and click the Recover option.
  • Follow the instructions provided below to recover a lost data from folder using File History in Windows 10.
  • Right-click the folder that contains deleted or lost data.
  • Choose the Restore Previous Versions tab and also specify the date when the file was available on your computer.
  • Click the Restore option to restore the lost data from the specified folder.
