A PST file in Outlook is used to store emails, calendars, and tasks. You can back up your Outlook contacts from the Outlook PST file. If you have already backed up your email accounts and data in a PST file, recovering it is very simple. Make sure to use the correct method to restore an Outlook PST contacts and emails file because an improper method can overwrite existing emails, calendars, and tasks.
If you are restoring the Outlook contacts and emails from the PST file for the first time, follow the steps mentioned below.
On your Windows computer, launch Microsoft Outlook 2016 by giving a double-click on the Outlook shortcut icon on the desktop screen.
In the Outlook main window, click the File tab available at the top-left corner of the screen.
Navigate to the left-side panel and select the Open & Export option.
Next, click on Import/Export and select the Import from another program or file option from the pop-up window.
Click the Next button and choose either the Outlook Data File (.pst) or Personal Folder File (PST) option here to restore an Outlook PST contacts and emails file.
Click Next and select Browse to import your PST file.
After selecting your Outlook PST file, click the Open button.
Next, choose any one of the following options.
Replace duplicates with items imported
Allow duplicates to be created
Do not import duplicates
After selecting any one of the options mentioned above, click the Next button.
Select the folder to import from and select the Filter option to import certain emails.
Click Finish to complete the restoration of the Outlook emails and contacts from the PST file.
Alternatively, you can restore Outlook emails and contacts from the PST file using any trusted third-party data recovery software.
